Figs

Dried Figs produced from clean, sound, ripened fruits.

Variety: Figs are the fruit of the Ficus carica – Common fig tree.

Figs are a soft fruit grown mainly in the Mediterranean basin. The main variety is Lerida. Commercial supplies are grown almost exclusively in the Malatya region of Turkey. The fruit is collected from the trees harvested when ripe (harvesting does not involve ground collection or drop harvesting methods). The fruit is then laid out for natural sun drying. The resultant product is a "natural condition" uniform light brown colour with a typical moisture content of maximum 24%, and is practically free from all internal and external defects.

The figs shall be well cleaned and then clipped to remove the top hard woody calyx.

The product is then diced according to the contract/customer specifications and rolled in rice flour to lend the product free flow characteristics.  The rice flour used has been heat treated.

The product is packed in cartons, coded and metal detected.
